For you

I never loved you enough,

I never could,

My own deficit crippled me,

In so many ways.

Always looking for love,

Yet, never feeling loved,

Plasters holding me together,

Could never hold.

My heart had no stamina,

It could only let go,

Selfishly taking the easy road,

When the cracks began to show.

Too easily I let you go,

Offloaded, walking away solo,

In my heart another gaping hole,

But hey~ho, it's easier to mask,

With those who don't know.

Easily I blamed you,

When my eyes of love and rosy hue,

Were dimmed and darkened,

With boulders of criticism and blame,

Our toxic childhoods collided,

Neither of us could handle the fall-out,

Damaged hearts exhibit differently,

But the root of pain is the same.

We tore each other down,

With our endless shame game,

There were no winners,

Only casualties still bleeding,

Reeling, in desperate need of healing.

I really needed someone,

To show me how to love,

To demonstrate how it"s done,

I am still learning, weeping,

Oceans of tears,

At His feet,

I pray you will join me there,

And one day,

He will bid us stand,

Complete.

  1. That last line:
    [He will bid us stand,
    Complete.]

Reminds me of my favorite bible verse: (Phil. 1:6).
“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”

I understand this to mean, that if we are truly His child (Born again/regenerate) from that moment in our life history to the end of our lives, whenever that will be, and whatever the circumstances will be, He will keep us in the faith and never let go of us. Sanctification is the "Work" that God begins.... And is only completed when the believer is resurrected after their life on earth has run its course.

We are not saved by "WORKS" or by getting it right all the time.
Like a child learning to walk... A christians walk with the Lord will include falling/stumbleing at times. They will have what we call "Valleys" and not simply John 10:10 [abundant life] Mountain top experiences.

This favorite verse of mine... is the promise... that how ever our life seems to be today... Especially if we are troubled by it....

Its going to be ok in the end. If today its not ok, and you are in the valley.
Its not the end. Phil 1:6 Tells me That God finishes what He starts.
If you are troubled and doubting today... Hang on to that promise of God!

Ask God to help you see His GRACE at work in your life. Especially if you are finding that hard to see at the moment.
    God bless.
