Scapegoat
Scapegoat
Even though I laid my heart bare,
Wide open like a book,
Transparent,
Longing for you to understand.
Longing, for love and warmth.
I gave you everything,
Hoping,
That in my everything,
You might find,
Something of value,
A part of me you could treasure.
But you, recoiled at my honesty,
And covered me with lies,
Generations if dysfunction,
Were laid upon me.
The one guilty party,
In every stinking mess.
Rejected,
Ostracized I walked away,
Stumbling, under the weight of it all.
