Moses at Meribah

Moses at Meribah

It breaks my heart that Moses, at Meribah,

Tragically failed, when he'd come so far.

He angrily bashed the rock, with his rod,

Instead of speaking, as commanded by God.

In a moment exasperated, by the people he served,

He didn't give to God, the honour He deserved.

How crushing, that in a moment things got out of hand,

And Moses would not set foot, in the Promised land.

I can't help weeping a little for him,

For years he contended with Israels sin.

Bondage and slavery so deep in their hearts,

Trading never ending love, for a golden calf.

Like a shepherd Moses tended his sheep for so long,

Through forty years of wandering he remained strong.

Preparing the people, showing them how to live,

To take hold of the blessings, God longed to give.

They didn't know, their covenant keeping God,

Didn't have a clue, how to live as they should.

Israel didn't know what true love looked like

They feared they would just be abandoned and die.

To grasp new life, they didn't know where to begin,

After generations of bondage and slavery to sin.

They wasted so many years being crippled by fear,

Instead of the promise entering Kadesh Barnea.

Be strong of heart, and enter the land,

God longs to lead you by the hand.

Lean on, and learn from Israels true King,

The blessings of abundant life, are  found in Him.

Love the Lord, with all that you are,

Obey His commandments and you will go far.

God's treasured possession, a people set apart,

A kingdom of priests, sharing His heart.

Choose the blessings of Gerazim,

Live your life consecrated to Him.

Do not struggle, or drown in despair,

The everlasting arms are always there.

In the fullness of time, Moses appeared in the land,

Speaking with Elijah and Israels ' lamb.

God's faithfulness, radiant for all to see.

From the bondage of sin, we are eternally free.
